CHICAGO (WBBM-TV) -- There is an update to report Friday on the mystery of Pepsi cans that seemed to emanate a foul, chlorine-like smell.
Earlier this week, some customers complained about the odor when they popped the lid. Jewel grocery stores pulled 24-packs of regular 16 oz. Pepsi cans after the smell was pointed out.
Late Friday, Pepsi solved the mystery of the odor. They say a problem during production caused the soda to be mixed with a small amount of cleaning solution. Pepsi says the problem was fixed quickly, adn the tainted cola never posed any health risk.
