CHICAGO (WBBM) -- He is still without his beloved canine companion, but 69-year-old Tom Finley has been getting a steady stream of support from total strangers - ever since his dog Reba was stolen September 7th.
WBBM's Steve Miller reports.
Loop office workers. Near North residents. Even an "animal communicator" in the suburbs.
All have reached out to Tom Finley to help find Reba, the 12-year-old yellow dog he towed behind his bike until she was stolen in the Loop.
Finley got a call from a woman who told him she took Reba because she didn't think Finley was taking care of her.
Now Finley has gotten the backing of the Anti-Cruelty Society and its president Dr. Gene Mueller.
"If somebody was sort of misdirected in thinking that Reba wasn't being cared for, we'd like to provide them with some reassurance that in fact we'll guarantee that Reba has access to the best veterinary care for the remaining days of her life, so that they can return Reba, no questions asked, without worrying about her."
The reward for Reba's safe return is $500.
An account at Harris Bank has been set up for contributions to the reward fund for bringing Reba back:
