Runge Found Guilty of 1st Degree Murder

CHICAGO (WBBM Newsradio 780)  -- There is a verdict in the trial of alleged serial killer Paul Runge. WBBM's Bob Roberts reports that a jury found him guilty of first degree murder.

Runge confessed to seven murders and was on trial for sexually assaulting and killing Yolanda Gutierez of Chicago and her 11-year-old daughter Jessica Muniz in 1997.

His defense attorneys asked the jury to find him not guilty by reason of insanity. But prosecutors argue that he knew what he was doing.

The jury deliberated for about an hour.
