CHICAGO (WBBM) -- This Saturday could be a busy day for gamblers. It certainly will be for a local wedding minister.
WBBM's Nancy Harty reports.
The appearance of 7-7-07 on the calendar has prompted many couples to pick that as the date to tie the knot.
Rev. Phil Landers of the Harvard Avenue Evangelical Free Church in Villa Park was flooded with requests to perform weddings that day.
He has agreed to officiate at five ceremonies, saying he probably turned down 24 couples because he couldn't logistically handle the load. He usually performs two or three on a Saturday.
Rev. Landers will start at 10:45 a.m. in Downers Grove and end the day around 7pm at the Chicago Botanic Gardens.
In between, there are ceremonies in Schaumburg and Oak Brook.
He says one couple is having cocktails and appetizers ahead of their vows to fit into Lander's schedule.
Landers says seven is considered a special number in the Bible - as the number of days God took to create the Earth and in old testament sacrifices - but as for three 7's together, that's considered lucky by those in Vegas.
