CHICAGO (WBBM) -- Northwest suburban teenagers who have fake IDs allegedly made by a 21-year old Barrington man could find themselves in legal hot water, as well, if they don't give up the IDs.
Acting Barrington Police Chief Jerry Libit says 21-year old Sam Rzepnicki is cooperating with police and that police have found on his computer all the pictures of teenagers he allegedly made phony driver’s licenses for so they could buy alcohol.
Chief Libit says it's a "simple matter of going through the pics identfying them with past yearbooks with people that work at various schools in trying to identify who those people are".
Chief Libit says teenagers who received fake IDs can avoid legal trouble if they send in the fake IDs before police track them down.
Police suspect Rzepnicki manufactured a thousand or more fake IDs for students in the northwestern burbs.
Libit says one teenager who attends the University of Kentucky has already admitted he has one and "he was going to promptly be returning it to us".
Chief Libit says Sam Rzepnicki was allegedly paid 150 to 300 dollars for each fake ID he made.
