Sometimes, no red flags before suicide
Regine Schlesinger Reporting

CHICAGO (WBBM/AP) -- If Michael Scott did, in fact, kill himself as the Medical Examiner has ruled, his was the third suicide in two years by a prominent official.
Former Blagojevich aide Chris Kelly and former Stroger aide Orlando Jones killed themselves.
Scott was President of the Chicago Board of Education. Hiss body and a .380-caliber handgun were found near a riverside loading dock not far from his car in the River North neighborhood early Monday morning, police said. The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office ruled the death a suicide, but police said an investigation was ongoing.
WBBM's Regine Schlesinger has been talking with the head of the Illinois chapter of the Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
From all accounts, those who knew Michael Scott are shocked, saying they saw no warning signs that he might be contemplating suicide. Psychologist Edmond Yomtoob says usually there are red flags - changes in behavior, signs of depression, or morbid comments - but, not always.
Dr. Yomtoob says ironically, Scott's apparent suicide comes just days before an annual event for survivors whose loved ones have killed themselves. You can find out more about the National Survivors of Suicide Day HERE.
