ROMEOVILLE, Ill. (STNG) -- And away Wii go ... until the cops showed up. Four men and one juvenile were arrested Sunday after allegedly trying to run out the door with video game systems.
Deputy Chief Mark Turvey said it was shortly after 6 p.m. when the quintet walked into Target, at 349 S. Weber Road, and grabbed a shopping cart.
"They put three Nintendo Wii systems into it and before security personnel noticed they started heading out the door without paying for them," he said. The systems sell for about $200 each.
Employees called police while others chased the bandits out into the parking lot where they split up and abandoned the cart.
Turvey said responding officers found three men matching the suspects' description walking away from the store on a nearby road.
"Two other suspects, Jamaal Saboor and a 15-year-old boy were found at Kohl's, 261 S. Weber Road, where it appears they were also shoplifting merchandise," Turvey said.
Saboor, of 480 Mallview Lane in Bolingbrook; Demarius D. Styles, 18, of the 400 block of Mallview Lane in Bolingbrook; DeAngelo Smith, 17, of the 100 block of Somerset Lane in Bolingbrook; and Jerry E. Williams, 21, of the 1300 block of Lancaster Lane in Woodridge, were arrested and booked into the county jail on one count of retail theft.
Jail records indicate Styles was already wanted on an outstanding warrant for skipping a previous court appearance.
The 15-year-old was arrested and booked into the River Valley Juvenile Detention Center.
