Cops: Coconuts, not baby, found in trash can

CHICAGO (STNG)  -- What police and fire officials initially thought was a dead baby in a garbage can in an alley on the Southwest Side Sunday morning turned out to be a bag of coconuts.

About 9:20 a.m., police discovered what they thought was a deceased baby in a garbage can at 5253 S. Kostner Ave., according to Fire Media Affairs Dir. Larry Langford.

Upon further investigation, officials realized there were no remains in the garbage can--but a bag of coconuts, according to police.

A woman called police to report the "baby" and it was not clear if the woman was confused about what she saw or trying to fool officers.
