CHICAGO (STNG) -- A man is in surgery Sunday morning after he was stabbed by his ex-girlfriend's 10-year-old son in a domestic incident in the South Side West Pullman neighborhood.
The incident occurred at 12:30 a.m. at West 118th and South Wallace streets, according to a Calumet District lieutenant.
The man, 35, had climbed in through the back window of the residence and attacked her, the lieutenant said. The woman's son tried to intervene, and when the man knocked him out of the way, the boy grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed the man in the left shoulder.
Police News Affairs Officer Laura Kubiak said the boy, woman and the man all lived together at the Wallace address, and the man attempted to re-enter the house through the window after his girlfriend told him to leave.
"There was a verbal altercation, she told him to leave," Kubiak said. "He climbed back into the house through the window."
The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in "stable" condition, the lieutenant said. His injuries required surgery, but did not appear to be life-threatening.
Kubiak said the woman was not injured.
Calumet Area police are investigating.
