Multi-vehicle collision reported on South Side

CHICAGO (STNG) -- At least two people have been hospitalized after a serious car accident involving two police vehicles and three other cars in the Woodlawn neighborhood on the South Side Tuesday morning, according to the Chicago Fire Department.
The accident occurred about 7:09 a.m. near intersection of East 63rd Street and South St. Lawrence Avenue, according to Fire Media Affairs Director Larry Langford.
Two police vehicles and three civilian vehicles were involved and as of 7:40 a.m. one person was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition, according to Langford who did not know if that person was a police officer.
A second person was taken to Saint Bernard Hospital of Health Care Center in an unidentified condition, according to Fire Media Affairs Chief Kevin MacGregor.
Several other ambulances remained on the scene, Langford said.
The police Major Accidents Investigation Unit confirmed they were dispatched to the scene.
