Woman sues ex-lover for calling her names
|
CHICAGO (STNG) -- A woman who became involved in an extramarital affair with her former boss is suing him for calling her a "crazy b--" and a stalker, leading her to lose business clients and Facebook friends.
According to the suit -- filed Monday in Cook County Circuit Court -- Richard C. Gloor made the damaging remarks about Annmarie Swatos after the two ended their affair and Swatos was terminated from her job at Gloor Realty Co.
In May 1998, Swatos was hired as an independent contractor with Gloor Realty. The suit did not specify an address for Gloor Realty, but an online directory lists it at 114 N. Oak Park Ave. in Oak Park.
In February or March 2006, Swatos and her boss Gloor began a romantic relationship that ended in the summer of 2007 after both their spouses discovered the affair, the suit said. Swatos was fired from Gloor Realty on January 14, 2008 because of the affair.
In the aftermath, Gloor has commented that Swatos is "post-partum," "delusional" and a "crazy b--" as well as accused her of stalking and lying about their relationship among her friends and acquaintances, the suit said. Several friends have consequently blocked her on social networking site Facebook.
Gloor has also advised prospective employers and business partners as well as loan officers not to work with Swatos, calling her unstable and untrustworthy, the suit said. Despite promising to Swatos upon her termination that he would forward all incoming calls requesting her as a real estate agent to her number, Gloor has not done so.
Gloor even made harassing phone calls to Swatos with his wife, according to the suit. He has admitted to Swatos that he made the damaging remarks about her in order to save his marriage.
The three-count suit -- claiming defamation, tortuous interference with business relations and intentional infliction of emotional distress -- seeks an unnamed amount.
