CHICAGO (WBBM) -- A new analysis suggests that how much you pay for health insurance depends, in part, on your zip code.
The figures compiled by a Chicago-based company called Norvax finds that, on average, suburbanites pay considerably less for comparable insurance coverage than Chicago residents.
The Chicago Sun-Times reports those in the generally blue-collar suburbs south and west of the city, pay nearly 25 percent less and suburbanites north of the city pay nearly 15 percent less.
The company's co-founder tells the paper the disparity isn't surprising given the different costs based on the hospitals, doctors and health care networks in those areas.
The research director of Consumer Watchdog calls the individual insurance market the Wild West, largely unregulated.
