Brother thwarts man’s attempt to lure, kidnap girl in park

CHICAGO (STNG) -- A man who tried to kidnap a little girl in a Northwest Side park was thwarted by the girls’ brother late last week, police said.

Anthony Correa, 44, of the 4800 block of North Kruger Avenue, was charged with attempted kidnapping, according to Albany Park District police.

The incident happened Thursday at a playlot or park at 4533 W. Carmen Ave., when Correa allegedly approached the girl who is about 9, by luring her with something. Police said the child was not kidnapped because the girl’s brother intervened somehow and was able thwart it.

Correa was arrested Friday at his home, according to police.

Court information was not available immediately.

Grand Central Area detectives are investigating.
