Pregnant woman shot while trick-or-treating with kids

CHICAGO (STNG/CBS) -- A pregnant Chicago woman was shot as she took her daughter and other relatives trick-or-treating in the Avondale neighborhood Saturday.
Elia Betancourt, 20, shot in the back near Belmont Avenue, was released Sunday from Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, her family said. Her unborn baby was unharmed.
Police said the shooting is possibly gang-related. Betancourt was not the intended target, officials said.
An 18-year-old man, allegedly a Latin Kings gang member, also was shot on Belmont and was taken in serious condition to the medical center with a thigh wound, police said.
"This corner has all these gang-bangers. After 4 o'clock, they're out here," said Jose Galindo.
Aurora Rodriguez was with her four children about 6:30 p.m. Saturday when she heard screams after the shootings.
"Two girls I didn't even know ran inside the house with me crying," she said.
"It's not fair to the kids," said Victor Velfi. "Halloween's a day for kids."
None of the children with Betancourt at the time was hurt, which is especially fortunate because witnesses say there was a blast of gunfire.
Police say an 18-year-old man was also shot as he was running from the gunman. Sources say he's going to be OK, too.
Several shell casings were found in the alley nearby, and all of this happened during prime trick-or-treating time.
No one is in custody, and police say the teenage victim told them he didn't see the person who shot him.
