CHICAGO (STNG) -- Construction work this week will affect the Brown, Red and Blue lines. Passengers should allow extra travel time.
On the Brown Line, Kimball-bound trains will bypass the Wellington and Diversey stations from 9 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday night through Friday morning while crews perform station construction, the CTA said.
For service to the Wellington and Diversey stations, passengers should take a Kimball-bound train to Fullerton and transfer to a Loop-bound train. For service from the Wellington and Diversey stations, passengers should board a Loop-bound train to the Belmont station and transfer to a Kimball-bound train.
The work will also affect the Brown and Red Line stations at Belmont and Fullerton. Northbound passengers must board and exit all trains on the Red Line side of the platform, according to the CTA. Southbound passengers must board and exit all trains on the Brown/Purple Line side of the platform.
Red Line trains in both direction will operate on the tracks normally used by Purple Line Express trains between the Wilson and Addison stations from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday while crews do track maintenance, the CTA said.
As a result, trains will operate on the outer tracks instead of the inner tracks at the Sheridan station. Passengers will board and exit trains at the same platform.
On the Blue Line, overnight construction will cause boarding changes a multiple stations this week.
From 11 p.m. Monday to 4 a.m. Tuesday, trains in both directions will operate on the same track between the LaSalle and Grand stations and passengers must board and exit all trains on the Forest Park-bound side of the platform at the Jackson, Monroe, Washington and Clark/Lake stations, according to the CTA.
From 11 p.m. Tuesday to 4 a.m. Wednesday, trains in both directions will operate on the same track between the Cicero and Harlem stations and passengers must board and exit all trains on the O’Hare-bound side of the platform at the Austin station, according to the CTA. The boarding change will be in effect at the Oak Park station from 1 a.m. to 4 a.m. Wednesday.
From 11 p.m. Wednesday to 4 a.m. Thursday, and again from 11 p.m. Thursday until 4 a.m. Friday, trains in both directions will operate on the same track between the Harlem and Forest Park stations and passengers must board and exit all trains on the O’Hare-bound side of the platform at the Harlem station, according to the CTA.
