CHICAGO (WBBM) -- Police are investigating the death of three-month-old girl from the South Side Stony Island Park neighborhood as a murder.
An autopsy Saturday by the Cook County Medical Examiner's office showed that Aurora Hall, of the 1700 block of E. 84th Pl., died of a blow to the head, internal bleeding and child abuse.
Police News Affairs Officer Mike Fitzpatrick said that police were called to the family's apartment at 3:45 p.m. Friday, and were told that Aurora "became unresponsive" while her mother fed her.
Fire Department paramedics initially took Aurora to Jackson Park Hospital, but she was transferred to University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital, where she died several hours later.
Department of Children and Family Services spokesman Kendall Marlowe said that Aurora's father is the focus of the investigation.
Marlowe said child welfare officials had no prior contact with the family, and that the couple have no other children.
