Gary, Ind. (STNG) -- Police are investigating the apparent double-murder of a mother and daughter found unresponsive at their Gary home Friday night.
Police responded about 8:55 p.m. to a call of a person down in the 700 block of Tyler Street and responding officers found two people unresponsive, Gary police Cpl. Gabrielle King said.
One person was dead on the scene and the other was pronounced dead at a local hospital, King said.
Lillie Miller, 79, was pronounced dead on the scene at 10 p.m. Donessa Miller, 52, was pronounced dead at 9:34 p.m. at Methodist Hospital North Lake Campus in Gary, a Lake County, Ind., Coroner’s office spokesman said.
The mother and daughter lived together and were found at their home, authorities said.
Authorities were not releasing a cause of death Saturday afternoon, but the spokesman said the women did not appear to be gunshot victims.
An autopsy is scheduled for Saturday, the coroner’s office said.
Gary police are investigating, but would not release further details pending the results of the autopsy.
Nobody is in custody, King said.
