CHICAGO (STNG) -- A woman found dead in a trash can on the South Side on Wednesday morning was beaten to death and her death has been ruled a homicide, a Thursday autopsy revealed.
About 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, a resident was dumping something in a trash can in the 7300 block of South Carpenter Street when they discovered the woman's body, police News Affairs Officer JoAnn Taylor said.
The body was found in a trash can in an alley at 7349 S. Carpenter, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. The woman was identified by fingerprints as 32-year-old Jean Colbert.
She died of multiple injuries from an assault and her death was ruled a homicide, according to a Thursday autopsy.
Police did not have a motive for the slaying as of Thursday afternoon and said no one was in custody.
Wentworth Area detectives are investigating.
