CHICAGO (STNG) -- Police are seeking three assailants who shot a man multiple times in an apparent gang-related attack Monday night on the South Side.
At 9:25 p.m., the man was exiting his vehicle at 6206 S. University Ave. when three unknown offenders approached and shot him, according to a Grand Crossing District police captain.
The 32-year-old victim suffered two gunshot wounds to the right leg, twice in the left leg, once to the groin, once in the abdomen and once in the left hand, according to the captain.
After he was shot he ran about two blocks before collapsing at 1314 E. 62nd Street where a Chicago Fire Department ambulance transported him to Northwestern Memorial Hospital initially in critical condition, the captain said.
Early Tuesday he was in “stable” condition, she said.
The victim has an affiliation with the Gangster Disciple street gang and no one was in custody for the attack, she said.
No one else was hurt.
Calumet Area detectives are investigating.
