Bernie Tafoya Reporting
CHICAGO (WBBM) ― Metra says riders who use the Southwest Service and the Heritage Corridor lines will have full service this afternoon, but riders should expect delays of 15-30 minutes.
Metra spokesman Michael Gillis says the Southwest Service train #819 which leaves Union Station at 2:40PM will be the 1st train out. The Heritage Corridor's first train leaves the station at 4:50PM.
Gillis says that, because the trains will be using one track that's open, they will have to roll slowly through the area where, yesterday, four freight train locomotives derailed near 21st and Canal.
Union Pacific spokesman Mark Davis tells Newsradio 780 the last two of the derailed locomotives were re-railed by 5:00 this morning. Before that could happen, crews had to drain the fuel from them as a precaution.
