Bean skips Flu-Education event; daughter has H1N1
|
HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. (CBS) -- The daughter of Congresswoman Melissa Bean likely has swine flu, forcing her mother to cancel an event at a suburban Chicago high school where she was to discuss prevention of the virus.
Bean's office issued a statement saying Monday's event with Illinois Department of Public Health Director Damon Arnold was canceled.
According to the release, Bean's daughter was diagnosed over the weekend with Type A Influenza, "which means she likely has H1N1, also known as swine flu."
Bean's office says the Barrington Democrat's husband also has been ill with similar symptoms but hasn't been diagnosed.
The release says Arnold advised Bean not to attend because she has been "heavily exposed" to the virus. Bean's office, however, says she hasn't suffered symptoms.
