Woman fatally struck in hit-and-run



CHICAGO (STNG)  -- Police are looking for a blue Chevrolet that fatally struck a woman in the Pilsen neighborhood on the Near South Side Tuesday night.

According to police the woman, believed to be in her 30s, was fatally struck by a blue Chevrolet Lumina in the 1700 block of South Halsted Street about 5 p.m.

The woman was pronounced dead on the scene, police said. The Cook County Medical Examiner's office has not been notified of the fatality as of 5:45 p.m.

The driver of the hit-and-run vehicle is described as an African-American male, and was last seen driving north on Halsted Street, according to preliminary information.

Harrison Area detectives are investigating.
