RIVERSIDE, Ill. (STNG) -- Police arrested and charged a man Tuesday after an attempted burglary that ended in a foot chase in west suburban Riverside.
The attempted burglary occurred at 11:44 a.m. in the 200 block of Blackhawk Road, according to a release from Riverside police.
A homeowner in the area was confronted in his home by a man wearing a red shirt and blue jeans, with an “S” tattoo with a sword through it on his arm. Upon confronting the homeowner and being challenged, the offender fled north through the neighborhood yards, pursued by the homeowner, the release said.
With the assistance of other residents, along with Berwyn, Lyons and North Riverside police, the offender -- who had removed his shirt and was carrying it -- was identified by the tattoo, captured and taken into custody after a search, according to the release.
James Castiglione, 31, of Bridgeview, was charged with felony residential burglary. He “has an extensive criminal history,” according to police.
