CHICAGO (WBBM) -- Fire broke out Sunday in the Chicago Hilton & Towers Hotel, but no one was injured.
Chicago Fire Department Chief Bob Hoff says they got a call just before 11:30 a.m. of a report of water flow in the Hilton at 720 South Michigan Avenue. When they arrived, they found found a fire in a steel linen container in a linen room on the 22nd floor.
Hoff says they evacuated people on the 22nd floor and everyone above that. He says te evacuation went very well. That section of the hotel has 25 floors.
Firefighters put out the fire, but sprinklers in the linen room kept the fire in check.
Hotel staff told guests they could come back in shortly before 1 p.m.
Hoff says the building was fully occupied at the time. He says smoke was minimal in the hallway on the floor where the fire broke out. Minimal water damage was reported.
The cause remains under investigation.
