5 fires break out in Logan Square

CHICAGO (CBS/STNG) ― Authorities are searching for at least one firebug, after five fires that broke out overnight in the Logan Square neighborhood.

Two people escaped a suspicious fire in the basement of a home in the 2700 block of North Ridgeway Avenue around 1:15 a.m. Grand Central District police said the fire was an arson.

The two victims were taken to Norwegian-American Hospital with minor injuries, Fire Media Affairs Chief Kevin MacGregor said.

It's not certain whether the blaze was connected to a series of overnight fires that started in garbage cans and spread to garages.
