Quinn forms cemetery oversight task force

CHICAGO (AP) - Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn has formed a cemetery oversight task force as authorities continue to investigate a suburban Chicago graveyard where bodies were allegedly dug up and the plots resold in a moneymaking scheme.

Quinn says the task force will look at operations at all Illinois cemeteries, with an emphasis on Burr Oak Cemetery in Alsip and others like it that are for profit.

The nine panel members represent state government, business and human service agencies.

Members are expected to make recommendations for the regulation of cemeteries and to submit a report to Quinn by Sept. 15.

The move comes as Cook County sheriff's office and FBI agents continue to sift through cemetery records and survey the grounds of Burr Oak to identify bodies.
