Man tries to abduct 7-year-old boy in Suburbs

PLAINFIELD, Ill. (STNG) -- Plainfield police are investigating after a man driving a red pickup attempted to kidnap a 7-year-old boy in a southwest suburban subdivision Wednesday afternoon.
The boy was in the 24000 block of Nottingham Drive in the Kensington Club Subdivision in Plainfield about 1:14 p.m. Wednesday when the suspect grabbed him by his arm and tried to pull him into his vehicle, according to a release from Plainfield police.
The boy told police he was able to pull away from the man and run back to a nearby home.
The suspect is described as a white man in his 40s, about 6-foot-1 and 180 pounds. He is balding on top of his head and had longer hair on the sides of his head. He was driving an extended cab red pickupwith a cap covering the bed, the release said. The make and model are not known.
Police are investigating the incident as an attempted kidnapping.
