Libertyville's most-wanted lizard captured

LIBERTYVILLE, Ill. (AP) - Libertyville's most-wanted lizard has finally been captured.
College of Lake County Professor of Biology Mike Corn caught the two-foot-long African savannah monitor Wednesday at the residence of Jim and Betty Moran.
It has been hanging around the Morans' hot tub for more than two weeks.
Corn said the lizard appeared very tame, and had undoubtedly been someone's pet.
Although a variety of baited traps had been set for several weeks to catch the lizard, Corn said it apparently preferred a wild diet of mice and chipmunks.
After capture, the lizard was taken to the College of Lake County, where it will be cared for and displayed for biology classes.
