CHICAGO (WBBM) - Newsradio 780 has learned that investigators are taking a closer look at another cemetery in the southwest suburbs.
Sources tell Newsradio 780 Cook County Sheriff's Police are looking at Restvale Cemetery in Alsip, which is only about two miles from Burr Oak Cemetery.
The sources say the investigation is in its initial stages, but that sheriff's police will look at records and burials at Restvale based on what are called "solid, tangible leads."
A spokesman for Sheriff Tom Dart would not comment.
Investigators with the sheriff's department have had their hands full dealing with Burr Oak Cemetery.
Restvale is also an old, mostly African-American burial place.
Among those buried there is the man renowned as the father of Chicago blues, Muddy Waters.
Newsradio 780's calls to Restvale Cemetery late yesterday were not returned.
At Burr Oak, four workers are charged in an alleged scheme to dig up bodies and resell the burieal plots.
Authorities have the monumental task of trying to identify who is buried in about 100,000 graves at Burr Oak.
