CHICAGO (WBBM) -- This evening the Chicago 2016 Olympic bid committee begins a series of neighborhood meetings to try to convince residents that hosting is better than not hosting even though the city would be responsible for any financial losses.
WBBM's Steve Miller reports the Chicago 2016 Chief of Staff Kurt Summers says the neighborhood meetings are not just to smooth things over following the mayor's decision to sign an agreement that would leave taxpayers liable for losses.
Summers says, "it's important that all the candidate cities maintain positive momentum going into the decision date."
That's October 2, when the International Olympic Committee announces which city will host in 2016.
The Chicago 2016 committee begins its meetings in the neighborhoods this evening at 5:30 at the McKinley Park Field House.
