Peaceful end to Wilmette barricade situation

WILMETTE, Ill. (CBS/STNG) ―A standoff ended peacefully in Wilmette Wednesday morning, after a man barricaded himself in his house and threatened to kill himself and others.
Police came to a house in the 700 block of Leamington Avenue in Wilmette at 4:45 a.m., after reports that a 37-year-old man who lived there was threatening to take his own life and kill others.
The house is about half mile south of Loyola Academy at 1100 Laramie Ave. in Wilmette
The man was already wanted by Wilmette police for the aggravated battery of a relative earlier in the day, police said.
When the man barricaded himself in his home, police brought the NIPAS regional SWAT team. The suspect surrendered without incident at 7:26 a.m., police said.
The man was being held under police guard at a local hospital, police said. Felony charges are expected later in the day.
