CHICAGO (WBBM) -- A truck carrying 9,000 pounds of Chinese food clogged traffic Tuesday morning when a car rear-ended the truck on the southbound Tri-State Tollway at 95th Street. The truck carried what Illinois State Police Lieutenant Luis Gutierrez called "Chinese-related produce" when the accident occurred at 6:35 A.M. Tuesday morning.
Gutierrez said that the produce may have spilled out of the truck and onto the roadway. However, he could only be certain that the produce was not in the truck when the scene was cleared.
A Honda Accord struck the back of the braking box truck in heavy traffic, Gutierrez stated.
The accident closed two of the four lanes on the expressway, backing up traffic for about four miles behind the scene according to the Chicago Tribune.
Neither driver was injured and both refused treatment.
