Steve Miller Reporting
|
CHANNAHON, Ill. (WBBM) -- The Mayor of Channahon says the shooting of a man and a woman inside their basement apartment appears to be an isolated incident and that the public is not in danger.
It was about 6:30 in the morning when the Channahon fire department arrived on the scene.
Fire Lieutenant Brian McMillin says they found two people, still breathing, and that each had apparently been shot once.
McMillin says the man was found in the bedroom and the woman was found in the living room of the apartment.
Channahon Mayor Joe Cook says police believe the offender or offenders have left the immediate area.
"This crime was more isolated, as opposed to random,” Mayor Cook told Newsradio 780.
Mayor Cook says the newly created Will and Grundy County Major Crimes Task Force is working the case.
No word yet on the condition of the man and woman who were shot.
