Unusual arrest reported at Taste of Chicago

CHICAGO (STNG) -- A West Side man who said he spent too much money at the Taste of Chicago was arrested after allegedly accusing Chicago Police of stealing $250 from him Saturday night at the Loop foodfest.
Jervel Jordan, 23, of 609 N. Hamlin Ave., was charged with misdemeanor false report of theft, according to a police report.
Jordan was arrested on July 4 at 9:30 p.m. at 300 S. Wabash Ave. after he allegedly stopped police officers and told them that other police officers had taken $250 in cash from him during a street interview at the Taste, according to the report, which said he allegedly demanded that a police report be prepared about the “theft.”
He was allegedly being evasive because he walked away during an interview with an officer, according to the report.
When officers walked back up to him to continue the interview they conducted a “protective pat down’’ and the officers asked him if he had any money, according to the report.
Jordan allegedly denied having any money, but when an officer asked him again, he allegedly said he had the $250 in his left shoe and also admitted to lying about the stolen money because he had spent too much at the Taste of Chicago.
