'Large amount' of cigarette cartons stolen
|
MONTGOMERY (STNG) -- Police are looking for a group of people who stole “a large amount” of cigarettes from a warehouse early Sunday in west suburban Montgomery.
Investigators believe the suspects, dressed camouflage clothing, gained entry into a warehouse at a distribution center in the 2100 block of Baseline Road between 12:45 a.m. and 6 a.m., according to a Montgomery police release.
The suspects stole a “large amount” of cigarette cartons and left the area in a stolen semi-truck, the release said.
Police said the suspects, believed to be Eastern European or Cuban, were last seen driving north on Illinois Route 31. The suspects may have stayed at a local hotel or motel for the past week, paying in cash and not using any credit cards, the release said.
The merchant is establishing a reward for the arrest and conviction of the suspects.
Anyone with information is asked to call Montgomery police at (630) 897-8707 ext. 3300.
