15-car crash on Tri-State Tollway
|
DEERFIELD (STNG) -- No one was ticketed following a 15-car crash that caused an 8-mile traffic backup Friday morning on the Tri-State Tollway near north suburban Deerfield.
The multi-vehicle crash was reported about 10 a.m. in an under construction express lane on the northbound Tri-State Tollway (I-294) between Willow and Lake-Cook roads, according to Illinois State Police District 15 Master Sgt. Ed Petrik.
Although the crash resulted in no injuries, four of 15 vehicles involved in the crash were towed from the scene, Petrik said.
The crash happened in a single express lane in a construction zone area, Petrik said.
State police said later Friday that one vehicle may have stopped suddenly causing a chain reaction, but no one was ticketed.
Traffic was backed up for about 8-miles on the Tri-State for more than one hour, but everything was reopened and moving again Friday afternoon.
