Iran Demonstrators Fill Federal Plaza
Steve Miller Reporting
|
CHICAGO (WBBM) -- Several dozen people demonstrated in Federal Plaza today - in support of democracy in Iran.
Most of those who demonstrated were Iranian Americans. Most were against the regime of President Ahmadinejad. All supported democracy. True democracy in Iran, they said.
Simin Rasmussen came to the Chicago area from Iran almost 40 years ago.
"Even though we feel very close because of their technology now, we also feel so distant because we are not smelling the tear gas and we're standing here with the wonderful police actually protecting us, rather than attacking us."
She says she is optimistic because she wants to see a better future for Iran. And without democracy, she says, she doesn't see that future.
