'Bulletproof Bandit' hits Skokie bank for second time
|
SKOKIE, Ill. (STNG) - The "Bulletproof Bandit," a robber who has struck at least four times now at banks on the North Side and northern suburbs, has struck again.
The robber, dubbed "Bulletproof" because he is believed to wear a ballistic vest during his robberies, struck the Eden's Bank branch at 5265 W. Dempster in Skokie about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to the FBI. It's the second time he's robbed that branch since April.
Amed with a gun, he walked into the bank and announced a robbery, a release from the FBI said. At one point, as seen from surveillance photos, he put his handgun on the teller's counter.
After getting an undisclosed amount of cash, he fled on foot. No injuries were reported.
The other robberies date back to March. On April 17 he robbed the Skokie Eden's branch the first time, according to the FBI.
He is also suspected of two bank robberies, both of North Community Bank branches, in the Lincoln Park and Lakeview neighborhoods, the FBI said. These robberies were at 3420 N. Clark St. on April 10 and 2335 N. Clark St. on March 27.
No injuries were reported in any of the robberies.
The bandit is described as a white man about 40, about 6-foot-2 with a slim build and dark hair.
He should be considered armed and dangerous, according to the FBI.
Anyone recognizing him or having information should call the Chicago FBI at (312) 421-6700.
