Still no ID on Des Plaines River body
Steve Miller Reporting
|
CHICAGO (WBBM) -- It has been just over a month since human bones were found along the Des Plaines River near Channahon.
And investigators are still trying to answer the question: Whose remains are they?
At first, there was speculation that they belonged to Stacy Peterson or Lisa Stebic.
Then, investigators said the remains found May 20 were those of a man.
And the families of at least two missing men - John Spira and Brad Olsen - say they've been told that the remains are not those of Spira or Olsen.
Now Illinois State Police Lieutenant Luis Gutierrez says forensic anthropologists in Indiana have been enlisted to help identify the remains.
"We requested the assistance of the anthropologist to be able to help identify who this individual is. What that will help us determine is the height, the weight, the race of this individual, so we can put that information out to the public to assist us in identifying him."
The Indiana forensic anthropologists declined to comment but say they are in the process of completing a report.
