Man found dead in car on Far South Side

CHICAGO (STNG)  -- A man was found shot to death inside a car early Sunday on the Far South Side.

Dentifer Standley, 24, of the 1700 block of E. 72nd St. was pronounced dead at Advocate Trinity Hospital at 8:38 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

Police responded to 9303 S. Harper Ave. at 8:16 a.m. and found Standley inside a car with a gunshot wound, police News Affairs Officer Kevin Kilmer said.

Kilmer said the investigation has been classified as a homicide but no offenders were in custody late Sunday.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.

Calumet Area detectives are investigating.
