BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. (STNG) - A Palos Park couple was charged this week in a string of residential burglaries in the southwest suburb that were reported in the past month.
Cezary Doniec, 25, of the 10000 block of 127th Street and Annette Palka, 21, of the 12900 block of Parkside Drive, were each charged with residential burglary, according to a release from Cook County Sheriff’s police.
The couple allegedly robbed at least six homes in the unincorporated Palos Park area in the past month, entering the homes in broad daylight, the release said.
Doniec would enter after breaking a basement window and go directly to the master bedroom, where he would take jewelry and money, the release said. Palka allegedly acted as a lookout and stayed in front of the homes.
Cook County Sheriff’s police detectives brought the two in for questioning after witnesses helped create drawn sketches of the couple, and were again identified through a line-up, the release said.
The couple would sell the stolen goods to local jewelry stores, and police recovered some of the stolen items, which were returned to their owners.
Bond for Doniec was set at $25,000 during a Tuesday hearing and Palka’s bond was set at $5,000, the release said. Both will appear in court again June 18.
Palos Park police assisted Cook County Sheriff’s police in the investigation.
