CHICAGO, Ill. (STNG) -- A grocery store owner was gunned down in the back of his shop early Saturday in the North Side’s Uptown neighborhood.
Lorenzo Miguel, in his 30s, was found fatally shot in the 4700 block of North Sheridan Road, a spokesman for the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office said.
Miguel, who was shot in the head, was pronounced dead on the scene after police arrived about 6 a.m., according to police News Affairs
Miguel’s body was found in the back of his business, and he was reportedly playing a card game prior to the shooting, authorities said.
The shooting did not appear to be linked to a robbery, and Miguel was not known to be involved in any gangs.
Authorities said the incident likely stemmed from a personal dispute.
Belmont Area detectives are also investigating a vehicle that may have been linked to the homicide, and were talking to “a few people” at the area Saturday evening, a source said.
An autopsy for Miguel is slated for Sunday.
