DCFS investigating death of Posen toddler

POSEN, Ill. (STNG)  -- The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is investigating an allegation of abuse following the early Sunday death of a 22-month-old south suburban toddler, authorities said.

Yvette Palacios, of the 14300 block of S. Division St. in Posen, was pronounced dead at Ingalls Memorial Hospital in Harvey at 1:47 a.m., according to a Cook County Medical Examiner's office spokesman, who said Palacios was found unresponsive at her home.

Spokesman Kendall Marlowe said DCFS is investigating Yvette's death as an allegation of death by abuse. He said the agency had no prior contact with the girl's family.

He was not able to comment on whether any other children were removed from the home.

An autopsy is scheduled for later Sunday.

Posen police were not available to comment on the death Sunday morning.
