Cops: Women escape after being abducted, assaulted

HARVEY, Ill. (STNG) - Police are looking into an incident in which four young women, including two teenage girls, reported being abducted from Chicago and sexually assaulted in south suburban Harvey.
The four women showed up at Allied Tube & Conduit Co. at 161st Street and Lathrop Avenue at about 5:30 p.m., claiming they had just escaped a home in the 16200 block of Finch Avenue after being held there against their will, Harvey police said.
A security guard allowed the women inside for protection while he contacted police, Allied spokesman Anthony Williams said. The four victims appeared "shaken up but OK," Williams said. Allied Tube manufactures steel products such as tubing for electrical conduit and wiring components.
The women - two 21-year-olds and two 14-year-olds - were taken to South Suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest for treatment, police spokeswoman Sandra Alvarado said. She said police had not unraveled all of the details because the women were upset and unable to provide complete details.
Investigators did believe some sort of assault occurred, but Alvarado couldn't confirm whether it was sexual. The women were reportedly abducted from Chicago, but the women were unsure whether it happened late Friday or early Saturday, Alvarado said.
Police sources told the SouthtownStar that all four victims appeared to have been sexually assaulted, including one who was sexually assaulted with a weapon. One of the women chewed through ropes and freed the other women before escaping to Allied, sources said.
Three of the victims are sisters, and a 14-year-old was a friend of the other teen, Alvarado said. Harvey detectives were waiting to speak with Chicago police about the case. Investigators are looking for a known suspect described as a man in his late 30s, Alvarado said.
