DYER, Ind. -- Police shot and killed a man armed with an AK-47 weapon in the upscale Briar Ridge subdivision.
Lake County Coroner David Pastrick identifies the dead man as Dean N. Tsatsos, 40, of the 1200 block of Killarney Drive. Pastrick pronounced Tsatsos dead in the back yard of a home at 10:29 p.m.,killed by a single gunshot wound to the head.
The fatal shooting is being investigated by the Lake County police and his office, Pastrick said.
Authorities said a Dyer police officer fired the fatal shot. No further information was revealed.In 2007, police arrested Tsatsos on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear in court on an OWI charge.
