Driscoll Catholic High School fundraiser pays off

CHICAGO (WBBM)  -- April 21st is expected to be the day that students and faculty at Driscoll Catholic High School learn if their efforts to keep the school open paid off.

WBBM's Mary Frances Bragiel reports just days after learning the west suburban high school would be closing due to declining enrollment numbers, members of the "Driscoll for the next 43 years" began an aggressive fundraising drive to raise one million dollars.

Joan Senate, a committee member, says more than $500,000 dollars has been raised.

310 students are currently enrolled at Driscoll Catholic, with tuition at $8,000 dollars a year. Senate says the committee is aware that in addition to the money, a capital plan needs to be in place to increase enrollment for the next decade.

On April 21st member of the fundraising committee will go before the Joliet archdiocese to try and save the school
