CHICAGO (WBBM Newsradio 780) -- CATS coming back to Broadway?
Not exactly. But a reality show that features felines will hit Madison Avenue in less than two weeks, starring a cat from Chicago.
WBBM Newsradio 780's Steve Miller reports that, week from now, a North Side cat named Zen (pictured) will step into his cat carrier and get on a plane for New York City, where he will be part of the Meow Mix House, at 49th and Madison.
He'll be in a big store window where people can watch him and nine other cats from shelters across the country.
Of course, the whole thing is filled with Web cameras, so everybody can watch - and vote on the top cat. Every day, one cat gets voted out of the house.
Zen's companion is Sister Marijon Binder, who runs Touched by an Animal, a Ravenswood group that helps care for cats whose owners are elderly or disabled.
"The Bible says God made all living things in his likeness, and I certainly see the image and likeness of God in the personalities of these cats."
And Binder is hoping for an outpouring of human love for Zen, so he can return home after June 23, as a winner - and recipient of a year's supply of cat food.
