Cubs Brass Tries To Calm Neighbor Jitters Over Night Games Report

CHICAGO (WBBM) - The Chicago Cubs tried to do a little damage control at a community meeting last night over the issue of the expansion of the number of night games.

Lakeview neighborhood residents were a little jittery after word that Cubs President Crane Kenney had told a Rotary Club in Florida that he hoped the Cubs would increase the number of night games from 30 to 50.

The Chicago Tribune reports, at an annual meeting with residents last night in Lakeview, Cubs VP Mike Lufrano there was no such plan in the near future. "We're not looking for anything this year," he said.

Lufrano also said it appears the sale of the Cubs will be finalized by Opening Day or shortly after that.  The Ricketts family is buying the team.

One of the other matters of contention to some residents last night was plans by the Cubs to open another sports bar at the park.  It’s expected to have outdoor seating and be open 7 days a week until 11 at night.
