School Dist. Looks At MySpace Restrictions

LIBERTYVILLE, Ill. (WBBM Newsradio 780)  -- A north suburban school district could change the way its students play around with blogs or social networking Web sites like myspace.com

Community High School District 128 includes Libertyville and Vernon Hills high schools where many students keep in touch with MySpace, Xanga or friendster.com.

Not illegal, in most cases, but questionable, opening the doors to predators say administrators. They're considering action to protect students.

The District 128 board votes Monday on a new policy to discourage students from posting inappropriate photos. President Anne Landgraf says students participating in extracurricular activities, including athletic teams, fine arts groups and school clubs could be disciplined.

If approved, Libertyville and Vernon Hills could be the first in the state with such a policy.
