Man Charged With Killing Brother Over $2

CHICAGO (STNG) ― A man was charged with murder for allegedly fatally stabbing his older brother with a butcher knife in a dispute over $2 early Tuesday in the South Side's Englewood neighborhood, police said.
Phillip Binder was charged with murder and is scheduled to appear later Thursday for a bond hearing in Violence Court (Br. 66) at the Cook County Criminal Court at 2600 S. California Ave., police said.
Binder's age and address were not immediately available.
About 2 a.m. Tuesday, Phillip and Charles Binder were inside Charles' home at 2027 W. 70th Pl. with other family members when Phillip allegedly stabbed Charles in the chest -- reportedly with a butcher knife in a fight over $2, police said.
The money was reportedly going be used to purchase drugs, police said.
Charles Binder, 35, was pronounced dead at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn at 2:49 a.m. Tuesday. A Tuesday autopsy determined Binder died of a stab wound to the chest and his death was ruled a homicide, the Cook County Medical Examiner's office said.
